I don’t think you can get a DH bike for 400 quid (correct me if I am wrong), thats the price of entrance level XC and dirt jump bikes. You can ride XC hardtails down the DH track at cwmcarn though. I have done but it wasnt good for my bike (makes some interesting noises now) and I crashed a few times. If you havent done mtb before I would reccomend starting by riding XC then if you find you like technical descents start riding DH as well.

most dh tracks are full of big drops and rough terrain, and so probs arent suitable for a DJ bike. Cwmcarn is really smooth though, so if u took it easy, theres no reason why you couldnt ride it. You d be a LOT quicker on a DH bike tho:)
