The right mountain bike pedal can make all the difference. Learn how to choose clipless pedals for a mountain bike and use them for riding downhill trails in this free online video on mountain biking basics.
I use clipless pedals. They are great on the trails, but crashing with them REALLY *****!! You are going to break the bike’s fall and you usually have to get used to hitting the ground a lot harder than you would if you could put your leg out. I’ve got the bruises and scrapes!! A lesser man would have ditched them a long time ago!!
clipless pedals are great.. jus learn how to use them in a grass field because u will tip over alot stuck to your bike. once you learn how to use them they offer alot of power and control for climbing hills. overall you do feel like you have alot more control over your bike. I do agree with using a pedal with a bit of a platform for learning like she said. but i strongly reccomend getting clipless pedals called egg beaters because u can clip in on all 4 sides not having to worry about the cleat.
stiffer shoes applies more energy to the pedal, less energy is lost.
Why do they call them clipless pedals when they have clips? She even says, “Clipless pedals: pedals with a clip.” I would think clipless pedals would be the stock or generic pedal you get with a bike from the store. Confusing.
i love you ……. to who dont know shimano
have a big foot pedals clip or clipless meaning the side of the pedal used
Also better use of energy, as your legs and feet work the pedals throughout the cycle.
Q: I assume for the small-size pedals, having stiffer bike shoes is all the more important?
i use the platforms on my DH bike but i have platforms on my XC bike i want to get clipless but whats the benefits?
if you’re in bumpy and rocky terrain and moving fast, you’re more than likely to have your feet bumped off the pedals, thereby either falling off the bike completely, or landing hard on the seat and squashing your boys. If you actually bike trails that are not perfectly groomed you’d understand. I ride a hardtail so it’s almost imperative that I’m attached to the pedals because I have no shock absorbtion on the main frame.
If you listen to the video, at one point she says “Clipless Pledals”
That was EXTREMELY informative… Please make another video on this topic.
It’s refering to the lack of a manual clip to lock youself in and out. Bakc in the you used to have to reach down and unclip the shoes from then pedal to be released (these are also known as death cleats).
SPD’s for example jsut require a twist to get out - loads safer in a bail.
can somebody tell me why there called clipples if they have clips?????
weird
who cares what they are called?
i agree it’s a good idea to get the platform type as it’s handy to get out of the click-in when in gets hairy.
They do make you climb more progressively and you are more stable when you are going down a bone shaker.
Consider the non-platform pedals after you have broken in your *****!
So now if I ***** up on a gap jump I get my Stinky coming down on top of me!? That sounds great!… Oh, WAIT, NO, IT DOESNT.
so now, when you fall, your bike will be coming right down with you…right?
dude, u can pull up and push down at the same time to get a better , smoother ride
definitely more power. ITs the first thing I felt when I rode clipless.
